I have made an arrangement with an awesome friend to have the kids play at her house today while I get ready for company. I get time to myself IN my house! I’m so excited, I don’t know what to do. The obvious thing would be to pick up all the toys that are strewn through the house, but I know that they well be out all over the house again by 7PM, so I feel like that is a waste of my time. What I really need to do is vacuum. Here is my confession – I never vacuum. Why, you ask?? Well, it started when Lindsey was a baby and was SERIOUSLY terrified of the vacuum cleaner. I would wheel it out of the closet, not turned on, not even plugged in, and she would crawl away screaming for her life. Then came Monica & Kenny, and one or the other is asleep anytime I get the chance to vacuum. I get through this by telling myself that it’s only temporary. I know that next year, my daily schedule will change drastically as Lindsey starts school. So I live in the mess and dream of the day I can walk through my living room without stepping on wooden blocks, plastic gears, and puzzle pieces. Of course, I realize that in another 10 years, my house will still be a mess – it will just be a different type of mess. Bookbags, jackets, shoes, and other miscellaneous crap everywhere. I not naive – just hopeful!
So, I have to get ready to take the kids to their playdate and upon my return, I will put on my Salt-N-Pepa Very Necessary CD (S & P – 1993!) and get my clean on. I never thought I would be so excited to clean my house – don’t judge me
